Belief In Yourself Is Underrated

Only you have the power to let yourself fail

Breaking into tech wasn’t easy. It took me nearly two years to land my first role. I know this isn’t what you want to know, but it’s the truth. The things that got me through those times were patience and belief in myself. It’s not just about coding boot camps or interview prep; it’s about resilience, focus, and trusting the process.

Growth Takes Time

It’s easy to compare yourself to others—especially in tech, where people often boast about landing jobs in months. And I let those comparisons get to me early on, but I had to realize that everyone’s path is different. Those two years weren’t just about job hunting; they were about becoming the person ready for that opportunity. Each tutorial, project, and interview rejection was a stepping stone.

Small Wins Matter

You might not feel it, but every small win counts. Solving a bug? That’s a win. Completing a project? Another win. These small moments build momentum and confidence. And those moments are what got me through. Those wins kept me going, and I am here to remind you that progress, no matter how small, is still progress.

Rejections Aren’t the End

Rejection used to knock me off kilter, but I had to learn that it wasn’t the end. I lost count of how often I was told “no” or ghosted after interviews. Instead of giving up, I analyzed what went wrong. Was my portfolio lacking? Did I fumble the technical interview? Adjust, refine, and keep going.

Believe in Yourself

This journey is as much about mindset as it is about skill. There were countless times I doubted if tech was even for me. But belief—whether from friends, family, or myself—kept me moving forward. Remember: you don’t need to be perfect; you need to be persistent.

Two years felt like forever, but looking back, it was worth every second. If you’re feeling stuck, know this: patience, consistency, and belief in yourself will take you further than you think. Keep going. Your breakthrough is closer than you realize.
