If One Starts...

Must you finish

In partnership with

When I first started in tech, I believed there was a finish line, you know, some distant point where I would finally arrive. I’d know everything. I’d feel confident. I’d stop Googling every other concept. I assumed one day I would feel like a real developer.

But that day never came and will never come and that’s the beauty of tech.

There is no end.

There’s no single moment when you’ve made it. Where you can finally exhale because you have reached the pinnacle. There’s always a new language, a new framework, or a new problem that will sculpt you into something new. It can feel like chasing a moving target but it’s actually a sign that you’re in the right field.

The idea of arrival is an illusion. We often imagine it as a destination, where imposter syndrome disappears and answers come quickly. But growth in tech doesn’t happen when you reach the top of a ladder. It happens when you realize the ladder keeps growing and you’ve become skilled enough to climb it.

Once I let go of the idea that I had to achieve mastery, I became less anxious and more open. I stopped comparing myself to others’ progress and started measuring my journey by one question: Am I better than I was yesterday?

That shift in mindset changed everything.

So if you’re feeling stuck, discouraged, or like you’ll never “know it all,” good. You’re right on track. Keep learning. Keep growing. Keep climbing.

The goal isn’t to arrive, it’s to evolve.
