When To Start Building

When do I build projects?

Now.

The longer you put it off, the longer you will hesitate. That was my biggest concern with building projects. I thought I had to learn more. I thought I had to know everything.

When I started to learn HTML, CSS was my next immediate concern. I didn’t think about building anything because my thought process was that HTML and CSS belong together, so I should only build one with the other.

But that is not true.

Once you have the basics of a topic down, start building.

So, again, let’s say you start with HTML. You don’t need CSS, so don’t hound yourself with worry because you haven’t paired it with the HTML. Sure, it makes the website look pretty but you can start with HTML to learn the elements. To figure out what goes where and to instill confidence in your ability.

And this is the single biggest reason to build.

Confidence will not just sprout in you because you read a book cover to cover or because you jot down notes. Of course, it helps but it’s when you start to apply your knowledge, this is where you will find out who you are and if you can push through the failures and obstacles that come with getting your hands dirty.

When you get to the other side, you will come out stronger for it because you took the time to fail, try again, fail some more, get back, try again, and then succeed. This is how confidence grows and snowballs because the more you build, the more you will start to realize, that you can do this!

Don’t wait to start because conditions aren’t perfect.

Start now to gain knowledge quickly!

Start now to retain information faster!

Start now so you can reach your goals!

Do not let the fear of failing stop you. I have failed over and over again. But I kept dusting myself off and building the projects that broke me into tech and I know you can do it as well. I believe you can do it, so believe in yourself. Build those projects and watch yourself blossom!
