The Pivot

New Opportunities on the Rise

In partnership with

Somehow, I have secured an interview for a position in Software Quality Assurance. And I know almost nothing about it. Of course, I know what the position does. I know they check the processes and systems to make sure everything is sustainable and running smoothly.

When I was interviewed, they delved deeper into the ins and outs of the position. And it was interesting. I want to give it a go, not because I am bored with being an engineer, it is because I want to branch out. Being one-dimensional is not something I want to continue being.

I want to be able to be multifaceted and encounter challenges that will break my brain and make it stronger in the long run. I want to be able to encounter new technologies to add to my list. I want to be able to grow my network. I want to be able to learn new skills and have them translate elsewhere. And to do that, I have to step into the unknown, and that is a scary feeling.

I am potentially leaving the comfort of what I have known to maybe drown hurriedly in a pool of confusion, anxiety, and newness. But I understand that you must struggle with anything at first to be good later on. Still, it doesn’t make the situation any better, but I am going to give it a chance.

I want to grow. I want to learn. I’m ready for the struggle that promises to deliver growth. Hopefully, this interview will go as planned, but if it doesn’t, it will still be a chance to discover something new. And that is what life is about!
